HowDisney Dreamlight ValleyFarming and Gardening Works

Disney Dreamlight ValleyFarming and Gardening is pretty standard for the most part -- you till the earth, plant a crop, water it, and harvest it when it's done. Here's what you need to know:

  • All Crops grow in real-time.
  • Crops will not grow if they are "dusty" (brown and dry); you have to water them.
    • Watering sometimes won't register properly -- make sure to check your Map to look for any red crop icons and see if anything is in need of watering. If you've just watered your crops and they've dried out in a short time, restart your game and water them again.
  • Crops take Energy to plant and water, but it does not consume any Energy to harvest them.
  • All Farming/Gardening activities -- including planting, watering, and harvesting -- will increase the XP of any buddies with you.
  • Buddies with the Farming role will occasionally throw out extra crops.
  • Buddies with the Foraging role will occasionally throw out extra berries from bushes, extra fruit from trees, and extra spices that you forage.
  • There are no hazards to Crops other than the need to water them.
  • Crops cannot be removed once planted -- you have to water them and harvest them to clear the square. Be careful when planting!

Farming is useful for making Food, whether you eat the Crops raw or use them for Cooking. It's also a great source of making money.

How to Get Bonus Crops

There are three ways to get bonus crops:

  1. Yellow Glow - A Crop, Berry Bush, or Fruit Tree will be awash in a shining yellow light. You have a short time to press the interact key as many times as possible and gain additional crops.
  2. Orange Items - Extra Crops will explode outward and land on the ground. They disappear in a short while, so pick them up right away!
  3. Blue Items - Hang Out with a Character who has the Farming ability and they'll throw out extra Crops glowing with a blue light. These won't disappear and you can pick them up simply by walking over them. Leave them on the ground for too long, however, and you'll have to manually pick them up by hitting the interact button.

Where to Find Crops, Berry Bushes, and Fruit Trees inDisney Dreamlight Valley

Crops have to be purchased from Goofy's Stalls; each Zone on the Map has its own Stall with the exception of the Plaza.

Berry Bushes and Fruit Trees are found in each zone (including the Plaza). There is a fixed number of Berry Bushes and Fruit Trees in the game and there is no way to make more. You can, however, use Build Mode to move Berry Bushes and Fruit Trees wherever you like -- even to other Biomes.

One final note -- you can get some free crops by building and upgrading WALL-E's Gardenafter you've unlocked the adorable little robot.

Best Crop to Grow inDisney Dreamlight Valley

The best crop to grow in Disney Dreamlight Valley is Canola; they can be found in the Forest of Valor. Canola costs 25 Star Coins for one seed, but it sells for 109 Star Coins apiece -- a profit of 84 Star Coins per plant. With a growth time of 35 minutes, that means that you will earn 2.4 Star Coins per minute when you're actively farming and harvesting Canola.

Unfortunately, you can't get Canola right away. You should start by upgrading Goofy's Stall in the Peaceful Meadow to unlock Carrots and farm those. Then, unlock Dazzle Beach and farm Tomatoes. Finally, you can unlock the Forest of Valor and get access to Canola.

If, however, you play the game very casually (or only occasionally), the best crop to grow is Pumpkins as it has the highest profit margin. If you're only going to do one harvest a day, you may as well make as much money per Crop as you can!

The next section covers prices and profit margins for Crops. This does not include the aforementioned bonus Crops; rather, it is just a baseline that assumes no bonus crops will grow.
